Networking and partnerships
SPYM has been instrumental in the formation of numerous National and Regional networks, bringing together agencies working for the prevention of drug abuse and HIV/AIDS.
Objectives: · To allow for the streamlining of funding from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment · To arm NGOs with the necessary training to comfortably approach donors · To sharing of knowledge to allow members to learn from one another’s strengths and weaknesses

To name an example, in 1991, SPYM took the initiative to form a country-wide network, aiming to sensitize NGOs about youth who are particularly vulnerable to durg abuse. In 1995, the Federation of Indian Non-Governmental Organizations for Drug Abuse Prevention (FINGODAP) was formed. Now FINGODAP has a membership of more than 350 NGOs, and SPYM is the national secretary.
SPYM is the national secretary for two other national networks:
· Indian Harm Reduction (IHR)
· Association of Resource Managers against Alcohol & Drug Abuse (ARMADA)
and one regional network:
· KIDAVARI for skill building of adolescents and youth
SPYM as a nodal agency has worked with various Departments of Govt. to assist in mainstreaming issues of HIV/AIDS prevention. Notably, The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, the Ministry of Women & Child Development, Ministry of Panchayati Raj & the CRPF under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India.
