FLAP: Farmers’ Livelihood and Awareness Program
Farm Mechanisation

Adopting modern machinery and technology in agriculture can play a transformative role in addressing challenges such as poverty, resource scarcity, climate change, hunger, and malnutrition. Mechanization helps save time and labor, reduce input costs, minimize risks from weather and labor shortages, improve crop quality and yield, and ultimately enhance farm income and long-term economic resilience.
The FLAP (Farmers’ Livelihood and Awareness Program) provides free access to both conventional and EV farm machinery for small and marginal farmers, ensuring no financial barriers. Farmers are trained to operate and maintain the equipment efficiently, enabling them to generate additional income by renting machinery to others in the community. Beyond income, the program fosters women’s participation, skill development, community empowerment, and social cohesion, while promoting climate-smart and environmentally sustainable farming practices. By integrating technology with social and environmental goals, the program creates resilient, inclusive, and thriving rural livelihoods, contributing directly to India’s net-zero goals and a sustainable agricultural future.

Entrepreneurship Development
While small-holder farmers and landless women possess strong farming knowledge, many are unaware of opportunities to diversify income through allied agricultural enterprises. Building their skills and confidence in running small businesses can help them increase profits, reduce financial risks, and create long-term economic stability.
The FLAP (Farmers’ Livelihood and Awareness Program) supports farmers in developing entrepreneurial skills and turning their land and labor into profitable ventures. Participants receive guidance on high-value crop cultivation, horticulture, EV farm machinery rental, vermicomposting, and organic fertiliser production, along with access to markets and supply chains to ensure their products reach buyers at fair prices. Through training in business planning, operational management, and market linkages, farmers transform into agripreneurs, generating sustainable income while promoting climate-smart and resilient farming practices.
